A big mistake we come across time and time again, as Spiritual Teachers, is that many people think they can follow their spiritual interests, while in a relationship with a partner who is actively or passively opposed to it. However we have noticed that this situation holds back the spiritually inclined person to some degree, sometimes very badly. The two people work against each other. It is like painting a room, with one person wanting to paint it pink, and the other wanting to paint it green, each painting over the other's efforts, so nothing gets accomplished.
